Sports Massage

This is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.

Deep Tissue Massage

This form of bodywork aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is common after the treatment, and plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

This is one of the most common types of massage therapy. It is gentler than deep tissue and aims to relax the body and mind, relive stress and tension in the muscles and increase circulation throughout the body.

common conditions in athletes

Do you suffer from any of the conditions described below? Do they make it hard or less enjoyable to participate in your sport or activity?

Massage can address many of these issues and, in conjunction with a healthy diet, exercise, hydration and sleep schedule, can work to reduce and eliminate the pain and inflammation associated with them.

Plantar Fasciitis

Affects feet and calves

The inflammation of a thick band of tissue connecting the heel bone to the toes.

May feel like walking on a marble, or broken glass. May feel worse first thing in the morning or increase during exercise.

ITB Friction syndrome

Affects knees and hips

The connective tissue of the Iliotibial Band (ITB) rubs against the thighbone creating pain and/or tenderness. Often experienced just above the knee joint on the lateral side.

May experience pain between the knee and hip joint that worsens with activity.

Hip Pain

Affects low back, hips, knees

Tight muscles in the hips and low back. This can lead to compensation, misalignment,  and more issues down the road.

May experience pain, numbness or tingling that radiates down the leg or up into the low back.
